As the Director of Parks & Recreation, Lenny's leadership has led to the repair, renovation, and improvement of over 50 out of 89 county park facilities:  

Anini Beach - Upgraded parking and barriers and wastewater systems

Haena Beach - Built new comfort station

Black Pot - Renovated restrooms in 2010, purchased 6 acres of land

Old Hanalei Courthouse - renovated to a neighborhood center

Ka Ulu A Paoa - created stewardship to maintain hula mound at Ke'e Beach

Kilauea Neighborhood Center - repaired roof and playground, installed bird friendly lights

Anahola Club House - fixed parking drainage, ADA accessibility, and playground; upgraded baseball field

Gore Park - improved fencing and boulders, completed Kawaihau spur to the park

Kapaa Beach Park - ongoing restroom painting and maintenance, removed old pavillion

Kapaa Pool - renovated bath house, upgraded crane for pool

Bryan J. Baptiste Sports Complex - renovated football field facilities, new locker room; upgraded waterlines, added additional 11 acre soccer stadium, partnered with Department of Hawaiian Home Lands for parking, cleared area for new bus shelter

Kapahi Park - re-roofed comfort station

Ke Ala Hele Makalai (Bike Path) - completed different areas of the bike path from Wailua (Hilton Garden Inn) to Lihi, Kapaa, and Kawaihau boardwalk spur, ongoing maintenance of signs, bollards, ADA strips, asphalt, painted pavilions

Wailua Homesteads Park - upgraded to new tennis court lighting, and collaborated with community for dog use area

Wailua Houselots Park - upgraded tennis court lighting, created community partnership to upgrade softball field

Waipouli - created stewardship agreement with Kaauwai 'Ohana for maintenance of the heiau

Lydgate Beach Park - upgraded pavilions, fixtures, comfort stations, shower facilities, flooring at Kamalani playground, ADA camping pads at the Kamalani camping grounds, ongoing maintenance of playgrounds, added an addition of park caretaker to ensure clean restroom facilities during peak family usage, in partnership with the Weinberg Foundation constructed 3 additional soccer fields the Lydgate Complex

Wailua Golf Course - rebuilt maintenance shop, new scoreboard, replaced maintenance machinery, renovated kitchen, replaced driving range nets; added credit card payment option

Peter Rayno Park - in partnership with Hanamaulu Hillsiders, upgraded park lighting, built in new pavilion and irrigation system, in partnership with Hanamaulu Hillsiders and Kiahuna Golf Course, installed new turf infield and new bleachers

Hanamaulu Beach Park - removed old pavilion, painted pavilions, added cleaning to recreation area

Laukona Park - repaved basketball court

Isenberg Park - constructed new scorer booth, basketball court with new bleachers and lighting, upgrading lighting for softball field

Lihue Neighborhood Center - re-roofed the facility, painted exterior

Kalena Park - started tai chi senior program in the park

Lihue Tennis Court - improved parking lot, upgraded to bird friendly lights 

Lihue County Park - repainted facility in partnership with community groups, upgraded infield of main diamond

Vidinha Stadium - installed new bird-friendly lights, renovated the football facilities, added new lights, dugouts and an upgraded bull pen to the baseball field; completed the ADA connections; added new throwing area for Track and Field to meet HHSAA qualifications to host state track meet

Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall - renovated the auditorium by adding new seats, carpet, and improved the lighting and sound system; cleaned vents and mitigated mold; increased facility capacity by converting the art room into a conference room; removed and replaced floor tiles the lobby, exhibition halls and conference room

Niumalu Park - renovated restrooms

Puhi Subdivision Park - built new playground, completed the ADA connections and partnered with the senior softball team, Rebels to improve the softball field

Anne Knudsen Park - added new lighting and bleachers, built a new playground, improved baseball field

Oma'o Park - built a new playground and improved ADA accessibility

Poipu Beach Park - one of the super park initiatives; repaired and refurbished the west comfort station, east comfort station, and all pavilions; built a new playground and improved the showers; completed a sand study to identify sources of beach sand to be placed on shore

Kaneioluma - in partnership with Hui o Malama o Kaneioluma, entered a stewardship agreement for the maintenance, protection, and promotion of the Hawaiian culture and sustainability of an island treasure; funded the security wall and ongoing support for maintenance project within the site

Spouting Horn - consulted to plan and design the kiosk booths for the vendors; amended the Spouting Horn ordinance to allow the vendors to operate in perpetuity, revenue from the rent collected from the vendors goes directly to the park maintenance

Weliweli Park - added disk golf course

Kalaheo Neighborhood Center - installed new gym floor, retro fitted gym lights to LED lights to improve lighting and efficiency by saving county money; currently partnering with HIEMA/KEMA to harden roof to withstand a Category A hurricane to become a designated shelter

Kalawai Park - repaired the playground, installed new lights and bleachers, constructed three announcer booths; ongoing construction to resurface the tennis court, basketball court, and parking lot

Captain Cook Memorial Park - secured $1 million from legislature to procure the planning and designing of improvements to the park

Salt Pond Park - currently upgrading the wastewater system, painted small pavilions, repairs and upgraded parking barriers

Hanapepe Cliffside - constructed a new basketball court

Hanapepe Neighborhood Center - improved the landscape and painted interior of the facility in partnership with the seniors and the community

Hanapepe Stadium - installed new lighting for football and tennis courts, added new bleachers and an announcer booth; improved ADA transitions in the facility; recycled a golf course tent to be used as a new storage for the stadium; currently under contract with a consultant for the planning and design for upgrades to the food booth and comfort station

Kaumakani Park - constructed a new pavilion in partnership with the seniors, and currently in the process of continuing this partnership to demolish, construct and improve the restrooms and storage area

'Ele'ele Nani - new basketball court

Lucy Wright Park - upgraded the comfort station, created a stewardship agreement with the canoe club to build a traditional canoe hale and maintain the area to help service keiki

Hofgard Park - improved the walkways, stage for performances and seating for events in partnership with Waimea Business Association

Waimea Canyon Park - installed new softball field lighting and added new bleachers, improved irrigation to the complex; currently planning and designing new baseball/softball complex in partnership with the community, Environmental Assessment (EA) on hold until land acquisition can be completed from the Faye 'Ohana

Waimea Neighborhood Center / Pool - ongoing renovation to pool bath house, upgraded and improved pump system, and made facility ADA compliant

Smokey Valley Clubhouse - repaired the front exterior wall due to car accident

Kekaha Faye Park - new lights for the tennis court, softball field and basketball court, and installed new bleachers; two new dugouts were also built in partnership with a Waimea High School graduating senior

Kekaha Neighborhood Center - repainted center, adjacent restrooms, and pavilion in partnership with the seed corn company

Kekaha Gardens Park - full buildout comfort station, baseball field, basketball courts, play area, picnic area, and soccer field; coordinated with the community to monitor and close the park during agreed upon hours
